Why local exhibitions still sell more than online galleries — even in 2026

8. April 2026

Online galleries have spent two decades trying to solve the same problem: how do you get someone to commit 500 CHF to a piece they've only ever seen on a screen?

The answer turns out to be: you don't. You let them see it on a wall first.

We looked at the first 100 pieces sold through Vetrina. 71 of them were first viewed in person, scanned, then bought online a few days later. 22 were bought online without an in-person view (mostly via social shares from existing collectors). 7 were bought directly through the QR within minutes of being seen.

The physical exhibition isn't a nice-to-have — it's the entire conversion mechanism. The website is just where the transaction happens after the buyer has already decided.
